Maverick Club Rodeo 

The Maverick Club Rodeo is Cimarron’s beloved 4th ofJuly tradition and one of the longest-running open rodeos in the West. This annual event brings the community together with classic rodeo action, bull riding, bronc riding, roping, barrel racing, and other ranch-style competitions that celebrate the region’s cowboy heritage. Families, locals, and visitors gather every year to enjoy the excitement, the history, and the authentic small-town Western spirit that makes the Maverick Club Rodeo a true Cimarron classic.

The Tooth of Time served as a key landmark on the Mountain Branch of the Santa Fe Trail, marking the point where travelers had about a week’s journey left to reach Santa Fe.
