1. Catch a hot air balloon launch in Eagle Nest - Eagle Nest

Go out to Comanche Creek Brewery on August 16, 2025 from 7 AM to 10 AM for EagleNest Balloon Fest! 

2. Share a New Mexican pizza from Bruno's Pizza and Wings with a friend - Raton

Covered in pepperoni, country sausage, ham, and green chile, the New Mexican is a local favorite and the perfect pizza to enjoy with a buddy or to have all to yourself. (we don't judge 'round here)

3. Dance the night away during a concert at Colfax Tavern & Diner @ Coldbeer - Cimarron

4. Picnic along the Cimarron River - Cimarron

Grab a quick to-go lunch from the Cree-mee Drive In and head to Cimarron Canyon State Park to enjoy your lunch and the fresh canyon air.

5. Hike to the top of Capulin Volcano National Monument - Raton

Take the rim trail at Capulin Volcano National Monument for panoramic views of the volcanic field and distant peaks!

6. Watch the sunrise from Climax Canyon - Raton

One of the best sunrise spots in the County. Just calls for an early bird willing to catch the worm!

7. Ride the chairlift at Angel Fire Resort up to the Summit Haus - Angel Fire

Ride the Chili Express Chairlift up to the mountain summit at 10,677 feet. Once at the top, you can enjoy disc golf, hiking or lunch from the Summit Haus!

8. Explore the Santa Fe Trail Museum - Springer

Walk through Springer’s history featuring railroad gear, vintage wagons, and Old West tales!

9. Take a drive through the Enchanted Circle - Angel Fire and Eagle Nest

Make a full-day loop around Wheeler peak to enjoy mountain views and fun roadside stops!

10. Rent a pedal boat and coast Monte Verde Lake - Angel Fire

11. Slow country drive through Maxwell National Wildlife Refuge - Maxwell

A drive best taken at sunset, you might even spot elk, antelope, or herons!

12. Tour the ghostly halls of St.James Hotel & Saloon - Cimarron

Visit the St.James Hotel and ask about the bullet holes in the ceiling, maybe even stay the night if you're brave!

13. Cast a line at Springer Lake - Springer

Pack a chair and a tacklebox for a laid-back fishing day (locals say the pike are biting)

14. Enjoy a meal at Laguna Vista Lodge - Eagle Nest
